Learning how to use the Segway PT is not difficult, but for organizations that have multiple users or different shifts of people using the machines, it is important to establish a standard operating procedure. This will insure that both the Segway PT's and your employees are meeting the safety and usage requirements of your company or agency.

We offer training options that range from basic rider orientation, accelerated rider development, tactical and security techniques and train the trainer programs. Training Options

Because of this we are always adding to our already deep training certifications to offer the best training options possible to both potential and current customers. 

Basic Rider Orientation:

With the purchase of any Segway PT from Segway of the Hudson Valley you receive Basic Rider Orientation at no charge. This covers how to recognize safety alerts, understanding balance mode, riding guidelines, turning the PT on/off, stepping on/off, moving forward / backward / stopping, and identifying and avoiding hazards.

Segway of the Hudson Valley Accelerated Rider Skills Development :

This training class is designed for our law enforcement/commercial fleet clients. The primary focus is on quickly establishing a basic level of rider proficiency. Emphasis is placed on rider safety and building rider skills to ensure a safe and smooth deployment of the Segway PT into the work place. Topics such as basic maintenance, navigating terrain, stairs and curbs, riding tips, turning techniques, and riding etiquette are discussed, demonstrated and practiced. Further training occurs in the environment (venue, patrol route, etc) with a Team Segway Coach, allowing for recognition of unique obstacles and demonstration / practice of associated techniques. Suggestions for optimization are made by a Team Segway Coach. This class is approximately 4-6 hours in length (depending on group size) and will take place on site. The class is broken up into two segments with a beginning classroom session and then in the field. At the end of this class riders will have established a basic proficiency and a strong foundation on which to continue to build their skill. This ensures that when your staff makes its public debut on the Segway PT they look poised and confident with their new transportation tool.
This class is $299.00 per person, with a three person minimum. This can be custom tailored as needed.

IPC International Corporation Segway PT Training:

This training class is provided by IPC through Segway Inc. and its dealers.
It is designed for police and security officers. The primary focus of IPC training is on discussing and practicing Segway PT riding strategies and skills as they relate to security and law enforcement. Topics such as patrol techniques, deterrent value, “sense of presence” to increase guest confidence, and tactical use of the Segway PT are discussed. This class is offered in two formats:

Instructor Training (Train the Trainer)
This provides you with the material and training of your staff to train others. It is $599.00 per person, with a four person minimum.

Officer Training (End User Training)
This provides individual officers with the above training. It is $399.00 per person, with a six person minimum.

Clients can use any of the training classes on a recurring basis as part of their workplace safety compliance programs.
